The Life of LOUISE ANNA RUNNING

Louise A. Running passed away on the 5th day of January, 2012 in Des Moines. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, January 11 at 2 p.m. at Brooks Funeral Care, 7975 University Blvd in Clive. Visitation will start at 1 p.m. at the funeral home. Louise was born June 15, 1925 to John and Bertha Mack of Knoke, Iowa. Her family moved to Des Moines in 1939.Louise attended Des Moines public grade schools, and in January 1943 she graduated from East High School. She worked at the Fluming building in Des Moines. During WWII, in February 1944, Louise traveled to Norfolk, VA, where she married Donald Running, her high school sweetheart who was serving in the U. S. Navy, and they were still married at the time of her death. She was a dedicated employee who worked at Meredith Publishing Company, Cook and Agra Industries. Louise was a warm and loving person, a past member of Grandview Lutheran Church, where she loved teaching Bible stories to Sunday and Bible School children. She belonged to the Stitch and Bitch Club in Johnston with her friends; and for ten years, volunteered at the Urbandale Library. Louise was always busy and creative. At the drop of a hat, she would make cookies for the entire neighborhood. Her family was a member of Youth for Understanding. She enjoyed the young foreign exchange students who lived with her family up to a year. Their guest from Sweden still, after 62 years, keeps in touch and visits her home. Louise is survived by and lovingly remembered by her husband, Donald Running; and her children, Donna L. Running of Minot, ND and Blake D. Running of Helena, MT.
