The Life of Meda Viator

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, August 16, 2006 at a 2:00 PM Mass of Christian Burial in La Chapelle de Martin & Castille for Meda Moss Viator, 93, who passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 13, 2006 at her residence in Lafayette.Interment will be in Lafayette Memorial Park Cemetery.Reverend John De Leeuw will be the Celebrant of the funeral Mass and will conduct the funeral services. Marcus McCullough, organist and soloist, will perform for the services, "Amazing Grace", "Ave Maria", "Just A Closer Walk With Thee", "How Great Thou Art", and "The Old Rugged Cross".Giftbearer for the services will be Cari Fontenot, and Lector will be Jean Nelson.Survivors include one daughter, Glynn Arceneaux of Lafayette; one son Kenneth Viator of Lafayette; seven grandchildren, Chris Arceneaux, Carie Fontenot, Knight Viator, Miranda Viator, Kahn Viator, Keye Viator, and Makayla Viator, all of Lafayette; eight great grandchildren, Payton Arceneaux, Collin Arceneaux, Dillon Fontenot, Hayley Arceneaux, Devin Arceneaux, Hannah Fontenot, Miya Roy, and Nina Roy all of Lafayette; three sisters, Effie Comeaux of Scott, Renola Nelson of Eunice, and Lois Derise of Lake Charles; and one brother, Clifford Moss of Palo, California.She was preceded in death by her husband, Oday Viator; her parents, Louis Joseph Moss and Lea Gary Moss; two sisters, Nedia McBride and Noellie Remick; and two brothers, Sidney Moss and Shelton Moss.A native of Rayne, Louisiana and resident of Lafayette for over sixty years, Mrs. Viator was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and friend to all who knew her. She was a employed as a seamstress for over forty-five years until her retirement. Mrs. Viator was a member of the Home Demonstration Club in the 1950's and 1960's, as well as a member of St. Jules Catholic Church Community. She enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, whom she adored. Mrs. Viator will be dearly missed not only by family and friends, but by all of those whose lives she has touched throughout the years.Pallbearers will be Chris Arceneaux, Knight Viator, Kahn Viator, Keye Viator, Casey Fontenot, and Joey Cormier.A Rosary will be prayed on Tueday, August 15, 2006 at 7:00 PM in Martin & Castille Funeral Home in Lafayette.The family requests that visitation be observed on Tuesday, from 8:30 AM to 9:00 PM and Wednesday from 8:00 AM until time of services.
