The Life of Guy John Knobloch Jr.

Guy John Knobloch, Jr., beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, was called to heaven on Thursday evening, June 1, 2006. His family and friends are filled with great sadness at his passing. Daddy Guy, as he was affectionately known, was happiest when he was cooking one of his many requested specialties, working in his beautiful flower garden or was surrounded by his loved ones. Mr. Knobloch was a decorated naval veteran of World War II and served on an aircraft carrier, the U.S. Copahee, that sailed in the Pacific Ocean.
Mr. Knobloch was born in Raceland, La., but lived most of his life in Lafayette. After serving in the war, he returned to Lafayette and attended SLI (now ULL). He graduated with a degree in accounting.
Those who were fortunate enough to be blessed by having a close relationship with this wonderful man were his loving wife of 59 years, Elizabeth (Betty) Olivier Knobloch, his son, Ronald Knobloch, M.D. and his wife, Betty, of Fort Smith, Arkansas, his daughter, Keri Davies and her husband, Robert, of Lafayette, and his grandchildren, Elizabeth Dake of Lafayette, Susan Davies of New Orleans, Jason Knobloch and his wife, Ida of Washington D.C., and Page Knobloch of Fort Smith, Arkansas. Also near and dear to his heart were his two great-granddaughters, Maya and Alayna Dake.
Preceding Guy in death were his loving parents, Guy John Knobloch, Sr. and Laura Stansbury Knobloch, his brother, Alden Knobloch, and several aunts and uncles.
Funeral services will be held Monday, June 5, 2006 at 10:00 AM in the Delhomme Chapel of the Flowers.
Rev. Ira Robinson, Pastor of Asbury United Methodist Church will officiate. The family requests that visiting hours be observed Sunday from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm and on Monday from 8:00 am to time of services.
Pallbearers will include Ronald Knobloch, Jason Knobloch, Cory Davies, Patrick Harrison, John Self, Curtis Bihm and Christian Turgeau. Honorary pallbearers will include Robert Davies, Norman Heard, Gerald Boudreaux and Harold Smith.
Delhomme Funeral Home, 1011 Bertrand Drive, is in charge of all funeral arrangements.
