The Life of Mr. Vincent James Labbe

Funeral services will be held on Monday, May 9, 2011, at a 1:30 PM Mass of Christian Burial in La Chapelle de Martin & Castille in Lafayette, for Vincent James Labbé, 53, who passed away on Thursday, May 5, 2011 in Lafayette.

Interment will be in Lafayette Memorial Park.

Reverend Gilbert Dutel, Pastor of St. Edmond Catholic Church in Lafayette, will be the Celebrant of the Funeral Mass and will conduct the funeral services. Giftbearers will be Kevin Labbé and David Labbé. Lectors will be Margie Castille and Amy Spikes. Karen Broussard, organist and soloist, will sing "Prayer of St. Francis", "Yahweh, You Are Near", "Amazing Grace" and "The Lord''s Prayer" for the services.

Survivors include his mother, Mildred Mouton Labbé of Lafayette; five sisters, Margie Castille of Lake Charles, Tessie Cooper and her husband Ronnie of Lafayette, Louise Labbé of Lafayette, Anne McGraw and her husband Harry of Lafayette and Janice Straub and her husband Vince of Broomfield, CO; two brothers, David Labbé and Kevin Labbé, both of Lafayette; two godchildren, Emily McGraw and Mark Castille; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, Eugene Labbé, Jr.; one brother, Bennett "Ben" Labbé; his niece, Carrie Castille Garrett; and his grandparents, Eugene Labbé, Sr., Blanche Girouard Labbé, Oscar Mouton and Ondine Bourgeois Mouton.

A native of New Orleans and a resident of Lafayette, Vince was a member of St. Edmond Catholic Church in Lafayette. He was a self employed electrician and enjoyed the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing. The love and care in which he provided for his mother and brother will always be deeply remembered and appreciated.

Pallbearers will be Kevin Labbé, Harry McGraw, Ronnie Cooper, Cody Cooper, Scotty Mayard and Patrick Gaubert.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Ned Labbé and Bob Labbé.

The family requests that visitation be observed in Martin & Castille''s DOWNTOWN Lafayette location on Sunday, May 8, 2011 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM and on Monday from 8:00 AM until time of service.

A Rosary will be prayed on Sunday at 7:00 PM in Martin & Castille Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in the name of Vincent Labbé to the American Heart Association, 1101 Northchase Parkway, Marietta, GA 30067.
