The Life of Garland Edward Daigle

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, May 19, 2010, at 10:00 AM in La Chapelle de Martin & Castille in Lafayette, for Garland "Cheyenne" Daigle, 76, who passed away on Monday, May 17, 2010 at his residence in Lafayette. Interment will be in Holy Mary Mother of God Cemetery.Reverend Samuel Blaylock, Pastor of Northside Baptist Church in Lafayette, will conduct the funeral services. Musical selections for the service will be "Peace In The Valley", "Just A Closer Walk With Thee", "The Old Rugged Cross", "Ave Maria" and "Amazing Grace". Survivors include his beloved wife Melba Daigle of 52 years; one daughter, Kathy Daigle; one son, Robert Daigle; one sister, Diane Doucet and her husband Merlin; and one brother, Johnny Ray Daigle and his wife Cheryl.He was preceded in death by his parents, John Edward Daigle and Mae Ruth Milburn Daigle; one sister, Betty Jean Caswell; and one infant brother. A native of Westlake, LA and a resident of Lafayette, Garland Daigle retired from the Lafayette City Police Department as a Detective after seventeen years of service. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting, camping, fishing, clay shooting and pistol and rifle shooting. He was a member of the Senior Olympics, the Wilderness Hunting Club and the United States Marine Corps. Garland Daigle will be greatly missed by family, friends and all who knew him.Pallbearers will be Mike Doucet, Keith Doucet, Randy Doucet, Joey Bienvenu, Arthur Chriceol and Glenn Pierret.Honorary Pallbearers will be Tommy Broussard, Mike Clavier, Jerrel Chafin, Todd Knox, Paul Landry, Steve Raggio and members of the "Porch".The family requests that visitation be observed in Martin & Castille's Downtown Lafayette location on Tuesday, May 18, 2010 from 3:00 PM to 8:00 PM and on Wednesday from 8:00 AM until time of service.
