The Life of Margratte Marie Owens
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 15, 2008, at 11:00 AM in La Chapelle de Martin & Castille for Margratte Marie Pope Owens, 82, who passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 13, 2008 at Cornerstone Village South in Lafayette.Entombment will be in the Peace Chapel Mausoleum at Lafayette Memorial Park Cemetery.Reverend Luther Burney will officiate the funeral services. Ramona Carmichael, accompanied on the organ by Mrs. Nell Lokey, will sing for the services "In the Garden", "Amazing Grace" and "How Great Thou Art".Survivors include two sons, Dr. Richard Lee Owens of Destrehan, LA., and Robert Charles Owens, Sr. of Baton Rouge, LA.; nine grandchildren; and three great grandchildren.She was preceded in death by her beloved husband William C. Owens, Sr.; one son, William C. Owens, Jr.; one grandchild, Jonathan Owens; her parents, Arthur Raymond Pope and Oralean Ballew Pope; and four brothers, Emanuel Arthur Pope, James Harold Pope, Jack Loy Pope and Calvin Cole Pope.A native of Tulsa, Oklahoma and reisdent of Lafayette for most of her life, Mrs. Owens was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend to all who knew her. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends and will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.Mrs. Owens was a longtime employee of Lafayette Parish Consolidated Government.Pallbearers will be Dr. Richard L. Owens, Richard L. Owens, Jr., Ross Owens, Reid Owens, Robert C. Owens, Jr. and Caleb Owens. Honorary pallbearer will be Jonathan Edward Owens.The family requests that visitation be observed on Saturday, March 15, 2008 from 10:00 AM until time of the services at Martin & Castille Funeral Home in Lafayette.
