The Life of Lawrence W Carr

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, July 19, 2010 in the Delhomme Chapel of the Flowers for Lawrence W. Carr, 80, who passed away on July 16, 2010 at 2:30 PM at Lafayette Extended Care. Reverend Richard Humphries, Pastor of Asbury United Methodist Church, will conduct the funeral services. Burial will take place in Lafayette Memorial Park Cemetery next to his beloved wife, Analee. Mr. Carr was a native of Crossville, Illinois and a resident of Lafayette, Louisiana for the past 54 years. He was born April 19, 1930 to Roy and Lucy Carr. Lawrence graduated Crossville High School in 1948 and served his country in the U. S. Air Force. He was involved in the oil field his entire career starting as a roughneck on a drilling rig and retiring as National Operations Manager of an international oilfield service company. Lawrence was an active member of Asbury United Methodist Church, the Evangeline Shrine and the Masonic Lodge. He enjoyed volunteering for numerous causes and was active in transporting families to Shrine Hospitals for treatment. He will be remembered as a loving father and husband and as a man with a quick wit and incredible sense of humor. Lawrence will be truly missed by all who knew him. He is survived by two sons, Greg D. Carr of Tyler, Texas and Eric S. Carr and wife, Margaret Carr of Lafayette; one granddaughter, Angel Taylor; two sisters, Joyce Davis and Jean Webb; nephews, Mike and Pat Davis, Dan, Dennis and Rob Webb and Bill Walkenbach; nieces, Margene and Cathy Walkenbach and his longtime companion, Ruby Jones of Crossville, IL. He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Analee H. Carr. The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Delhomme Funeral Home of Lafayette on Sunday, July 18, 2010 from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm and will continue on Monday from 8:00 am until time of service. Pallbearers will be Mike Davis, Pat Davis, Thad Minaldi, Mac Barousse, Daniel Gilder and Garett Boudreaux. Honorary Pallbearers are Guy Letteer and Sean Needham. The family would like to offer special thanks to Lawrence’s angel on Earth, Ms. Stella Akinsoji and the amazing physicians and staff of Lafayette General Medical Center and Louisiana Extended Care Hospital, 9th floor.
