The Life of Jaywood J Vincent

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, November 3, 2011, at an 11:00 AM Mass of Christian Burial in La Chapelle de Martin & Castille in Lafayette, for Jay Vincent, 80, who passed away peacefully on Monday, October 31, 2011 at his residence in Lafayette.

Interment will be in Lafayette Memorial Park.

Reverend Thomas Habetz, Associate Pastor of St. Genevieve Catholic Church in Lafayette, will be the Celebrant of the Funeral Mass and will conduct the funeral services. Lectors will be Brandi Comeaux and Maryanne Angelle. Karen Guidry, organist and soloist, will sing "Go Rest High On That Mountain", "Amazing Grace", "Prayer of St. Francis" and "On Eagles'' Wings" for the services.

Survivors include his beloved wife of 61 years, Dolly Hanes Vincent; four children, Marlane Vincent Savoie, Rickey Vincent and his wife Penny Ribble, Mike Vincent and his wife Aline Breaux and Linda Vincent Meche and her husband Patrick; seven grandchildren, Ryan Vincent, Chad Vincent, Heather Comeaux, Brandi Comeaux, Adam Meche, Patrick "Scooter" Meche, Jr., and Logan Meche; and eight great grandchildren, Daniel Vincent, Brett Comeaux, Morgan Comeaux, Riley Comeaux, Gracie Comeaux, Ashton Vincent, Aniston Vincent, and Hudson Vincent.

He was preceded in death by parents, Romain and Edes Prejean Vincent and one brother, Norman Vincent.

Jay Vincent was born in Gueydan on January 10, 1931, was a resident of Lafayette for most of his life and a member of St. Genevieve Catholic Church. He was employed by Hanes Construction for 35 years, was a supervisor with the City of Lafayette for three years, was a salesman with MIS for five years and NAPA for 3 years, then retired. Jay enjoyed fishing, hunting, woodworking and gardening. He will be dearly missed by his family, friends and all who knew and loved him.

Pallbearers will be Chad Vincent, Adam Meche, Patrick "Scooter" Meche, Jr., Ryan Vincent, Brian Comeaux and Ryan Comeaux.

Honorary Pallbearer will be Logan Meche.

The family requests that visitation be observed in Martin & Castille''s DOWNTOWN Lafayette location on Wednesday, November 2, 2011 from 11:00 AM to 9:00 PM and on Thursday from 8:00 AM until time of service.

A Rosary will be prayed on Wednesday at 6:00 PM in Martin & Castille Funeral Home by his cousin, Mr. Gene Hebert.
