The Life of Harris S Viator

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm on Thursday, December 6, 2007 in the Delhomme Chapel of the Flowers for Harris S. Viator, 88, who passed away Wednesday, December 5, 2007 at Rosewood Retirement and Assisted Living.

Reverend Steven C. LeBlanc, Pastor of St. Pius X Catholic Church, will conduct the funeral services.

Interment will be held in Lafayette Memorial Park.

Mr. Viator, a native of Meaux and a resident of Lafayette, was the son of the late Luce Viator and the former Marie Simon both of Vermilion Parish. He was a veteran in the United States Army having served in World War II. He was employed by Southern Pacific Railroad.

He is survived by one daughter, Barbara Roy and husband, Jerry of Lafayette; one son, Ray Viator and wife, Charline of Mandeville; five grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; one sister, Hazel Menard of Abbeville; and three brothers, Curvis Viator of Walker, Presley Viator of Abbeville, and Linis Viator of Beaumont, Texas.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Verna Mae B. Viator; three sisters, Edole Trahan, Agnes Olds, and Olivia Hebert; and five brothers, Ulyss Viator, Lucien Viator, Lollis Viator, Lloyd Viator, and Dallas Viator.

The family requests that visiting hours be observed on Thursday from 9:00 am until the time of service.

Betty Comeaux will recite a rosary Thursday at 10:30 am in the funeral home.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Hospice of Acadiana, the administrators and staff at Rosewood Retirement Community, and his sitters, Sederra, Mary, Theresa, Linda and Earline.
