The Life of John Stanford Navarre

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm on Thursday, June 10, 2010 in the Delhomme Chapel of the Flowers for John "Kay" Stanford Navarre, 81, who passed away on June 7, 2010 at 7:00 am at Regional Medical Center.

Reverend Bob Zannini, Reverend Terrell Reed and Reverend Loyd Singley will conduct the funeral services.

Burial will take place in Lafayette Memorial Park Cemetery.

Mr. Navarre, a resident of Lafayette, , was the son of the late John Sydney Navarre of Scott, LA and the former Aline Mounic Navarre of Evangeline, LA. John was a member of Life Church. John was raised in Evangeline, LA and began working in the oil industry at the age of 16 till he was 75 years old. Most of the family called him "Kay", a nickname given to him by a friend saying "That Kid is Okay!"

The Family wishes to acknowledge Leo "Dub" Tucker for his continuous friendship for over 75 years to our Dad. The long conversations of good old times over longer cups of coffee, rides to church, his favorite meal - fried catfish cooked to perfection by "Dub" and numerous phone calls to check in on John.

He will be missed by his "Little Sister" Mary Daisy Navarre Prosser of Riverside, California. Mary and her late husband Bill were not just relatives but good friends with John and Opal. They were there for our Dad and Mom in good times and bad.

Last but not least, his brothers by marriage to Opal. Roy Sexton and spouse Gloria of Jennings, LA and Butch and Susie Sexton of Olnay, IL. Butch never let a day pass without a phone call ending with "I Love you." .

He is survived by his daughters Karen Navarre, Debi Faulk and her spouse Gerald, of Lafayette, who cared for him physically and emotionally for the past four years. He''s also survived by his daughter Sharon Samples of San Antonio, TX; In Addition, he is survived by two grandchildren, Gerald "Jerry" Faulk, Jr. and his wife Tiffany and John W. Faulk, whom is currently serving in Iraq; four great-grandchildren, Taylor Marie Faulk, John W. Faulk, Gerald "Trey" Faulk III and Jacob M. Faulk; step-granddaughters, Jackie Guidry and Heather Bourgeois.

He was preceded in death by the love of his life and wife of 58 years, Opal Sexton Navarre; his parents; one sister, Rosabelle Lovett; and one brother John Elroy Navarre.

The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Delhomme Funeral Home of Lafayette on Wednesday from 1:00 pm until 8:00 pm and on Thursday from 8:00 am until the time of services.

Pallbearers will be Gerald Faulk Jr., Glenn Laurents, Jody Aucoin, Bill Prosser Jr., Donald Prosser and Louis Laurents. Honorary Pallbearers will be Gerald Faulk, Leo Tucker and Joe Franklin.
