Mrs. Naquin was also a bee keeper for 63 years and keeping bees was a major part of her life. She became known as the "Bee Lady".  The bee hives were spread out in different areas of Lafayette Parish and produced a large number of 55-gallon drums of honey and during the year of 1994, she and her husband had more than 200 hives and were making about 42 drums of honey each year. It was just a hobby at first, she and her husband both had jobs and did not start bee-keeping to make money. Actually, she started with one hive, ordered from the Sears Roebuck catalog and from that hive it just grew.  It wasn''t until after the couple retired in the 1970''s that they really became serious about keeping bees.  At retirement, they had about 77 hives, but later the hives would number as high as 225.  Still, above all of the other benefits, Mrs. Naquin said it was the basics of beekeeping that were most rewarding for her, and selling the honey to people, which developed into many new friends.  She was also a member of both state and local beekeeping associations, which kept her very busy. Mrs. Naquin was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and sister.  She will be dearly missed by her family and friends.A Rosary will be prayed Sunday, January 11, 2009 at 4:00 PM in the Martin & Castille Funeral Home. The family requests that visitation hours be observed Sunday from 1:30 PM until 6:00 PM and Monday from 8:00 AM until time of services.   Pallbearers will be Stephen Roy, Scott Roy, Nolton Hains, Nick Mayeaux, Derrick Begnaud and Hannah Roy.   Martin & Castille - Lafayette - 234-2311.
