The Life of Floyd James Martin

Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 pm on Thursday, July 12, 2007 at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church in Broussard for Floyd ''Pappy'' James Martin, 83, who passed away Saturday, July 7, 2007 at St. Agnes Hospital.

Deacon Joe Trahan will conduct the funeral service

His final resting place will be in Lafayette Memorial Park next to his beloved wife.

Mr. Martin, a resident of Hanover, Maryland for the past 6 years, was born on July 13, 1923 in Keymar, Maryland. In 1962, he retired from the United States Air Force after 20 years of service and achieved the rank of Staff Sergeant. After military service, he lived in Broussard, Louisiana where he worked in many vocations. His final job was with Dixie Color of Louisiana where he delivered film for 15 years before finally retiring at the age of 62.

Survivors include his brother, Kenneth Martin of Grand Junction, Colorado; his sister, Sherley Moss of Walkersville, Maryland; his only son, John Martin and his wife, Theresa Martin of Hanover, Maryland; their son, George Martin and his wife, Donna Martin and their sons Michael and Alex Martin all of Broussard, Louisiana; their son James Martin; their sister, Sharon Martin and her son, Sean Martin all of Hanover, Maryland.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife Ruby of 51 years before she passed away in 1995.

Pallbearers will be Michael Martin, Stewart Cabrol, George Martin, Percy Racca, Henry Jones and James Hebert. Honorary pallbearers will be Alex Martin, Sean Martin, Wiltz Racca and James Martin.

The family requests that visiting hours be observed Wednesday from 3:00 pm until 9:00 pm and continue Thursday from 8:00 am until the time service.

A rosary will be recited Wednesday at 6:00 pm in the funeral home.

Delhomme Funeral Home, 111 North Washington, Broussard is in charge of all funeral arrangements.
