The Life of Dorothy M Carrier

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 28, 2007 at a 11:00 AM Service in First Baptist Church for Dorothy "Dot" Dunn Carrier, 80, who passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 26, 2007 who peacefully passed away surrounded by her family, at her youngest son's home Thursday morning. Interment will be in Lafayette Memorial Park Cemetery.Reverend Wallace Millsaps of First Baptist Church of Broussard will officiate for the funeral services accompanied by Reverend Wilton Anthony. Brother Randy Hoffpauir, soloist accompanied on the piano by Brother Joe Garbarino will sing, "Precious Memories", "Because He Lives" and "Amazing Grace". Survivors include her three sons and their wives: Billy Joe Carrier, Sr. and his wife Deborah Stevens, Floyd Joseph Carrier, Jr. and his wife Gwynne Schaeffer , and Lee Dunn Carrier and Mary Beth Hamilton; her two daughters Cynthia Ruth and her husband Tommie Jean Gallet and Terresa Marie and her husband Brett William Ridgedell, Sr.Nine grandchildren: Tracy Stevens Carrier and her husband Jeffrey Henry, Billy Joe Carrier, Jr., Floyd Joseph Carrier, III and his wife Robin Webb, Shanna Georgiana Carrier and her husband Matthew O'Neil, Erica Jean Gallet and her husband Shawn Menard, Nicole Marie Gallet, Brett William, "Ridge" Ridgedell, Jr., Kristen Dorothy Ridgedell, and Hamilton Miles Carrier; Six great grandchildren: Logan Joseph Gallet, Matthew Joseph Henry, Jean Dale, "J.D." Menard, Ryan Joseph Carrier, Myecah Joaquin Carrier and Jayden Carroll Meaux and her brother, Bobby Lee Dunn, Sr. and his wife Gerry Vincent. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of almost 50 years, Floyd Joseph Carrier, Sr., her parents, Lee Archie Dunn and Pearl Ruth Brumbelow, and most recently her sister, Mary Ruth Dunn and her husband Willie O'Neal Burgamy.A native of Rosenberg, Texas she lived all over the Gulf Coast before settling in Youngsville. Dot devoted her life to her family and loved not only her own children and grandchildren but their friends as well, which was evident by the fact that so many called her Mom or MaMaw. She raised her own children to become loving spouses and parents who were able to pass on the virtues she instilled in them to their own children.Dot was a full time grandmother for the last several years of her life and spent countless hours cheering them on, hardly missing a sporting event. She led the applause at dance recitals and Livestock Shows and followed each event or performance with the kind of praise that made the children feel like stars.Pallbearers will be Floyd Joseph Carrier, III, Brett William "Ridge" Ridgedell, Jr., Hamilton Miles Carrier, Logan Joseph Gallet, Shawn Dale Menard, Jeffrey Henry, Bobby Lee Dunn, Jr. and Steven Dunn. Honorary pallbearers will be Tommie Jean Gallet, Brett William Ridgedell, Sr., Billy Joe Carrier, Jr. and Matthew O'Neal.The family requests that visitation be observed on Friday from 11:00 AM to 9:00 PM and on Saturday from 9:00 AM until time of services at First Baptist Church of Broussard, 210 South Morgan Avenue, Broussard, LA.The Carrier Family wishes to thank the 5th floor staff of Lafayette General Medical Center, Hospice of Acadiana, especially Maria, Cynthia and Jennifer for their compassionate care and Dr. Jay Jaikishen.In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to First Baptist Church of Broussard, 210 Morgan Street, Broussard, LA 70518 or Hospice of Acadiana, 2300 Johnston Street Suite 200, Lafayette, Louisiana 70503.
