The Life of Dirk Charles Kellogg

Funeral services will be held for Dirk Charles Kellogg, 47, on Wednesday, January 24, 2007 at 2:00 pm in the Delhomme Chapel of the Flowers. Dirk was born in Lafayette on June 12, 1959. He went to be with the Lord while walking his dog, Riley, his favorite labor of love. Please join us in celebrating his life. The Very Reverend Larry G. Wilkes, Rector of the Episcopal Church of the Ascension, will conduct the funeral services. Interment will take place in Lafayette Memorial Park. Dirk was a 1977 graduate of Lafayette High School and also attended ULL. He was a lifelong resident of Lafayette. He was employed with Mitchell-Site-Acquisitions. Being outside anywhere especially the beach was one of Dirk’s favorite activities. Dirk was a caring loving son, father, brother, uncle and nephew. He was lots of fun for his nieces and nephews and loved to laugh. Dirk’s death has left a tremendous void in the lives of his family, friends and coworkers, but Heaven has issued in a very special man. He is survived by his daughter, Erin Kellogg of Lafayette; his parents, Virginia “Ginger” and Lewis Charles Kellogg of Lafayette; his fiancé whom he dearly loved and brought love to his heart, Nancy Peterson of Lafayette formerly of California; four sisters, Debbie Kellogg of Baton Rouge, Diana Kellogg Soward of Lafayette, Dawn Kellogg Kinsella and husband, Ian of Lafayette and Dru Kellogg Talbot and husband Dennis of Lafayette; two aunts, Nie Latiolais and Mary Jane Kellogg both of Lafayette; and his nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by paternal grandparents, Lester “Jim” and Lidney Talley Kellogg; maternal grandparents, Baker Jones and Helen Middlekauff Turner; and infant brother, Dwayne Lewis Kellogg. The family requests that visiting hours be observed Tuesday from 1:00 pm until 9:00 pm and will continue Wednesday from 9:00 am until time of service. Pallbearers will be Dirk’s brother-in-laws Dennis Talbot and Ian Kinsella, his only nephew Brian Hebert, his friends Lee Leonard, life long friend Paul Begnaud, Ed LeBlanc, and Pat O’Friel. Honorary pallbearers will be Michael Patterson and Matt Mitchell. Delhomme Funeral Home, 1011 Bertrand Drive, Lafayette, LA is in charge of all funeral arrangements.
