Reverend Millard Boyer, Lafayette General Medical Center Chaplain will officiate. Interment will take place in Lafayette Memorial Park. In 1947, at age 17, Gisele came to the United States as a “G.I. War bride” and moved to Lake Charles, LA, where she lived until 1968. She then moved to Lafayette, LA where she lived the remainder of her life. Gisele deeply loved the adventures, as well as, the humor of life. Above all, she was a devoted mother and friend. She was an accomplished artist and loved to travel and experience not only the magnificent scenery, but was passionate about sampling the endless varieties of fine food. She never knew a stranger, and left a lasting impression on everyone she met. She was preceded in death by her parents, Simon Carriton and Germaine (Cunin) Carriton; her youngest son, Christian Johnson of Lafayette, LA whom she loved dearly. Gisele leaves behind her four beloved sons and three daughters-in-law, Daniel and Ruthie Bertrand of Okinawa, Japan, Micky and Regenia Bertrand of Beaumont, TX, Gary Bertrand of Lafayette, LA and Ricardo and Dana Johnson of Broussard, LA. She cherished her 18 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. She had a host of very dear friends, so many of whom supported her to the end of this life and the beginning of her next great adventure. The family requests that visiting hours be observed Thursday from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm and continue Friday from 8:00 am to the time of services. Pallbearers will include her sons and grandsons. Our family wishes to thank our dear friends and church families for helping us through this time of transition. We also wish to acknowledge the many caring doctors and tenderhearted staff of the oncology unit at Lafayette General Medical Center for making our beloved mother and friend as comfortable as possible during her last days. Many thanks to Hospice of Acadiana for your care, concern and guidance.
