The Life of Herbert Gilfoy Barnett Jr.
Funeral services will be held at a 10:00 am Mass of Christian Burial on Wednesday, February 11, 2009 at the Delhomme Chapel of the Flowers for Herbert Gilfoy Barnett, Jr., 65, who passed away on February 6, 2009 at 7:51 PM at his residence.
Reverend Timothy Richard, Pastor of St. Edmond Catholic Church, will be Celebrant of the Mass and will conduct the funeral services.
Burial will take place in Lafayette Memorial Park Cemetery.
Barney, a resident of Lafayette, LA, was the son of the late Herbert Gilfoy Barnett of Houlka, Mississippi and the former Gaynell Serpas of New Orleans, Louisiana. He was a member of St. Edmond Catholic Church. He was retired from the US Post Office after 30 + years of service. He enjoyed woodworking, stamp collecting, caring for his fresh water aquariums, model airplanes, sports cars and remote control cars.
He is survived by his daughter, Phyllis Anne Barnett of Johns Creek, GA, one step-daughter Emily Cramer and husband Anthony of Lafayette, LA; two sons, Herbert “B.J.” Gilfoy Barnett, III of Lafayette, LA, and Christopher Barnett of Lafayette, LA; one step-son, Clayton Claxton of Lafayette, LA, one sister, Carol Huber of Amite, LA.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Julie B. Barnett, and his infant son, Troy Barnett.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed on Tuesday, February 10, 2009 from 11:00 am to 9:00 pm and on Wednesday from 8:00 am until time of service at Delhomme Funeral Home of Lafayette.
A rosary will be recited on Tuesday at 7:00 PM.
Pallbearers will be B.J. Barnett, Christopher Barnett, Clayton Claxton, Chad Noel, Shane Robichaux and Anthony Cramer,II.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Stroke Association.
