The Life of Suzette Ann Barker
Memorial services will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, February 10, 2010 in the Delhomme Chapel of the Flowers for Suzette Ann Barker, 69, who passed away on February 6, 2010 at 7:27 am at Lafayette General Medical Center.
Reverend Floyd Callais will conduct the funeral services.
Entombment will take place in Lafayette Memorial Park Cemetery.
Mrs. Barker, a resident of Lafayette, LA, was the daughter of the late Cecil R. Barra of St. Martinville, LA and the former Lilly Roy of New Iberia, LA. She loved playing Mah Jong and Canasta with her lifelong friends. She enjoyed reading, painting, home decorating, good food and good wine. She worked for 38 years as a registered nurse at Lafayette General Medical Center until retirement. She was a loving mother, sister and friend and will be missed by all. The family would like to thank Dr. Gene Brierre, Dr. Gary Guidry, Dr. Eugene Stueben and the staff at Lafayette General Extended Healthcare.
She is survived by two daughters, Shawn Barker Arceneaux of St. Martinville and Michelle "Missy" Barker John and her husband William "Bill" John of Lafayette; one son, Henry D Barker Jr. and his fiance Nancy Christelieb of Lafayette; her ex-husband, Henry "Hank" D. Barker Sr. of Lafayette; one sister, Phyllip Anne "Nan" Mayer of Lafayette; as well as a host of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed on Tuesday, February 9, 2010 from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm and on Wednesday from 8:00 am until service time. A Rosary will be recited Tuesday night at 7:00 pm in the funeral home.
