The Life of Mary Jane Kellogg

Funeral Services will be held at a 10:00 AM Mass of Christian Burial on Tuesday, April 6, 2010 in the Delhomme Chapel of the Flowers for Mary Jane Kellogg, 79, who passed away on March 30, 2010 at her daughter''s residence.

Reverend Gary Schexnayder, Pastor of St. Michael the Archangel Church, will be Celebrant of the Mass and will conduct the funeral services. Karen Broussard, organist and soloist, will sing ''Ave Maria'', ''Song of Farewell'', I Have Loved You'', ''The Old Rugged Cross'', and ''The Rose'' for the service.

Interment will take place in Lafayette Memorial Park Cemetery.

Mary Jane Kellogg, a lifelong resident of Lafayette, LA was the daughter of the late Charles "Jim" Kellogg of St. John''s, Michigan and the late Lidnie Talley Kellogg of Henderson, Louisiana. Mary Jane was a co-owner of Southside Cleaners. Along with her profession, Mary Jane was very active in the lives of her children. Having a handicapped child, Mary Jane''s heart went out to all children and families facing similar challenges.

An advocate for the needy and disadvantaged; she gave freely her time. For many years she was an integral part of the LARC; first as a parent, then as the president of the parent''s club and lastly as a board member. She also served on the SMILE board and was member of Civitian, the Steppin Out Red Hatters Group and Golden Age where she was crowned Queen in 2004.

She is survived by her daughter, Dr. Mary Jane Walker Gates and husband Royce of Lafayette; and one son, Danni Jason Dugas of Lafayette; four grandchildren, Walker Gates, Meredith Gates, Trevor LeBlanc, and Lewis Dugas; one sister, Annaise "Nie" Latiolais of Lafayette, LA; one brother, Lewis Charles Kellogg and wife Ginger of Lafayette, LA.

She was preceded in death by her parents; Charles "Jim" and Lindie Talley Kellogg; one sister, Lenora Kellogg Marks; two sons, David Wayne Walker, and Charles "Chuck" Walker; and her nephew and friend, Dirk Charles Kellogg.

The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Delhomme Funeral Home of Lafayette Monday from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM and will continue from 8:00 AM until time of services. A Rosary will be recited by Deacon Randy Hyde on Monday at 7:00 PM in the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Lewis Kellogg, Gerald Latiolais, Archie Leger, Danni Dugas, Walker Gates, and Royce Gates.

Her family would like to acknowledge the dedication of her Angels of Mercy assistants, Susan Hargrave, Gail Comeaux, and Ginger Bernie. Also the family would like to thank Dr. Richard Fei and Dr. Hector Robles for their many years of care giving.
