The Life of MICHELLE MARIE MEISTER

Michelle Teclaw Meister, 49, passed away on Monday, December 26th, at Mercy Hospice in Johnston after a courageous battle with cancer. Michelle was born on August 19, 1962, in Luverne, MN, to Marion and Margaret Teclaw. Michelle graduated from Laurens-Marathon High School in 1980. She attended Iowa Central Community College in Fort Dodge on a basketball scholarship. Several years later she attended Upper Iowa University and received her 4-year degree. She worked at Principal Financial Group in Des Moines for 25 years. Michelle loved to exercise and stayed active. Michelle loved sports. She was involved in intramural teams of basketball and sand volleyball. She loved to play golf and watching her team “The Indianapolis Colts.” She is survived by her son, Derrick Meister of Johnston; her parents, Marion and Margaret Teclaw of Johnston; sisters, Patricia Teclaw of West Des Moines, Bev Teclaw of Johnston, Jackie Ackerman and husband, Nile of Johnston; brother, Greg and wife, Cindy of Granby, CT; as well as eight nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her grandparents and niece, Jasmine Greig. Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m., with a scripture service beginning at 7 p.m., at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Avenue, on Thursday night, December 29, 2011. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Mary of Nazareth Catholic Church on Friday, December 30, at 10:30 a.m. Burial will follow at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Mercy Hospice in Johnston in loving memory of Michelle. Her family would like to express their sincere thanks to the staff at Mercy Hospice in Johnston for the loving care and attention they showed Michelle the past two months.
