The Life of EDNA MARIE ATKINS
Edna Marie Atkins passed away Tuesday, November 22, 2011 at Bright Kavanagh House. She was 93 years old. Edna is survived by her daughter Carolyn Atkins Beatty, grandson Andy (Danielle) Beatty, two great granddaughters Samantha and Alexa, her sister-in-law Emelia Graham of Winnemucca, NV and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband Harold V. Atkins and her brothers Lloyd Graham of Des Moines and James Graham of Winnemucca, NV, her sister Marion Graham Gouka of Des Moines,
Edna and Harold owned Forest Avenue Furniture and later she worked at JC Penny’s downtown store.
She was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church and she loved to work in her yard and garden. She will be buried at Highland Memory Gardens and a celebration of her life will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Central Iowa.
