The Life of JESSICA LYNN SMITH
Jessica Lynn Smith, 12, passed away November 21, 2011 at home in her mother’s arms surrounded by all her loving family and loving nurses, Kelsey, Amy, Anne and Mindy. She was born April 27, 1999 in Des Moines and moved to Ankeny in 2002.
She is survived by her daddy and mommy, Larry and Carey Smith; brother, Michael McDonald (Tabitha Arnold); sister, Savannah Smith; grandparents, Larry and Mary Gilliam, Jim and Becky Smith, Philanna Grier; aunts and uncles, Teresa Lau (Ernie Davenport) and her children, Heather, Stephen & Josh; Sheryl (Charles) Goodhue and their children Shawn, Tyler & Jordan; Ted Smith; Ted (Annette) Reeves and their children Jessica, Nathan, Benjamin, Kaylin & Melody ; her loving nurses, Kelsey, Anne, Amy, Pam, Mindy, Jeanie, Jennifer, Michelle; and her loving pets, Chloe, Tinkerbell and Cookie.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, November 26, 2011 at Highland Park Lutheran Church, with burial to follow at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens.
Larry, Carey and family want to thank Teresa Lau, Jessica’s aunt and Supervising RN for her loving dedication and care for Jessica. Teresa was Jessica’s biggest advocate, making sure she received the best care and everything she needed.
A special thank you to Dr. Eric Andersen, Dr. Sara Schutte and Brad Ortmier at CBS Health Care, and Mary Beckler with Easter Seals for everything they have done to ensure Jessica could be cared for in her home.
