The Life of JACK H MASON

Jack H. Mason, 89, passed away Thursday, November 10, 2011 at Iowa Lutheran Hospital. Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, November 15, 2011 at Our Saviour Lutheran Church, 4003 - 2nd Avenue, Des Moines. Burial will follow at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery. His family will receive friends from 5-7pm, Monday, November 14 at the church.

Jack was born on March 8, 1922, the son of Lenore and John Mason in Des Moines, where he had lived most of his life. Jack was a US Marine Corp World War II veteran having faithfully served his country from 1942-1945.

He was united in marriage to Elizabeth Ann "Betty" Nau in 1942. Jack worked as an electrician for the government and retired in 1980. Jack was a member of Our Saviour Lutheran Church and the Highland Park American Legion Post #374.

Jack is survived by his wife, Betty; daughters, Nancy Mason, Mary Werley (Joel) and Joanne Herold (Tim) all of the Des Moines area; son, James (Jackie) Mason of Seattle, WA; 12 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; and his sister, Virginia Moylan of Des Moines.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two daughters, Elizabeth and Roberta Mason and two half brothers, Joe and Wilbur Lee.
