The Life of KELLY KAY DOOLEY
Kelly Dooley, 45 of Johnston, IA passed after a courageous battle with cancer on Thursday, October 27, 2011 at Mercy Hospice Johnston. Funeral Services will be held at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Ave., Des Moines, on October 31, 2011 at 2 p.m. Burial will follow at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery.
Kelly was born in Perry, Iowa October 15, 1966 to Lynn and Eugene Gruwell. She attended Des Moines Lincoln High School. In 1986 she met Tom Dooley and later married in 1992. Tom and Kelly were dedicated to raising their two beautiful children, Tony and Chelsea together, creating a loving home. She was devoted to her dogs and enjoyed reading, cake decorating and providing care for hospice patients at home. She created rich traditions for the holidays that the family will lovingly honor. Kelly was co-owner with Tom of their family business-Secure Solutions.
A devoted wife, mother, daughter, sister and loyal friend. Kelly will be remembered for her inner beauty, strength, intelligence, business-savvy, and unconditional love for those close to her.
Those left to cherish her memory, are husband, Thomas Dooley; son, Tony Dooley; daughter, Chelsea Dooley; mother, Lynn Sherer; sister, Lori Gruwell of Des Moines; brother, Dean Gruwell of Oklahoma; and step-father, Michael Sullivan of Des Moines. Kelly was preceded in death by her father, Eugene Gruwell; step-father, Al Sherer; and step-sister, Tari Hansen.
