The Life of MARY FRANCES REED
Mary F. Reed, 93, passed away Saturday, October 15, 2011, at Mercy Hospice in Johnston. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, October 19, at Iles Funeral Homes – Westover Chapel in Des Moines, where the family will greet friends from 12 noon until the service time. Interment will take place at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery in Des Moines.
Mary was born on August 26, 1918 in Des Moines, Iowa to Clark and Martha Nichols. She was a 1936 graduate of Roosevelt High School. Mary married Walter F. Reed, Jr.
She is survived by her children, Mary Lou (George) Bandstra of Clive, Dixie Reed of West Des Moines and Walter F. (Nancy) Reed, III of Des Moines; three grandchildren, Jeff Burns, Christina Reed and Walter F. Reed, IV; one great-grandson, Brandon Pollock; and three great-great-grandchildren. Mary was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and one grandson, Richard Burns.
