The Life of Doris Drake Matthews

Doris Drake Matthews, wife of the late Otis Matthews and resident of Ansonia, entered into eternal rest October 8th, 2011. She was born September 9th, 1920 in Ansonia, daughter of the late George and Bertha Fultz Drake. She worked as a para- professional for the Ansonia Board of Education and was a member of the Immanuel St. James Episcopal Church in Derby as well as a member of the Ansonia Senior Center. She leaves to cherish her memory, two sons, William Farnham of Oakville, Connecticut and Harold Farnham of New Haven, daughter Paula Euell of Prescott, Arizona, step-son David Matthews of New Haven, step daughter Kathy Barbour of New Haven, 6 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, God daughter, Sharon O'Conner and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by two sisters, Lorraine Sills and Gladys Byrd and brothers, George, Victor, and Vincent Drake. A special thanks to her devoted niece Brenda Gibbs and friends Grace and Brian Sexton for helping Doris with their love and attention.Friends may call on Thursday from 9 to 10:30 am at the Jenkins King and Malerba Funeral home, 12 Franklin St, Ansonia. A mass of catholic burial will be celebrated Thursday, 11 am from The Church of the Assumption in Ansonia; burial will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery, Ansonia.
