The Life of Laura Betts

Laura Betts YOUNGSTOWN – Laura Betts, 85, departed this life Jan. 26, 2010, surrounded by her loved ones. Mrs. Betts was born Feb. 6, 1924, in McKeesport, Pa., a daughter of Blanche and Willie Carter. Mrs. Betts attended the Immaculate Conception Church. She loved to garden, read and also take care of others in her neighborhood. On Nov. 29, 1947, she married her husband, Ralph P. Betts; he died Nov. 28, 1983. She leaves to cherish her memories, three sons, William E. (Geneva) Betts, Ralph P. (Flora) Betts Jr. and Robin L. Betts Sr.; three daughters, Mary A. (Lee) Betts-Moncrief, Marva A. Betts (Robert Carter) and Phyllis A. Wallace, all of Youngstown. She also leaves 14 grandchildren and a host of great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Blanche and Willie Carter; husband Ralph P. Betts Sr.; two brothers; and two sisters. Friends may call on Tuesday, Feb. 2, 2010, at the Howard-Rhoden Memorial Home from 3 to 5 p.m. and from 9 to 10 a.m. at the church on Feb. 3, 2010, at the Immaculate Conception Church, where funeral services will start at 10 a.m. The family would like to take this time to extend a special thank you to Winsor Guardian Nursing Center for the long care of “our” mother and a special thank you to the Howard-Rhoden Memorial Home and Green Haven Memorial Gardens Cemetery for “our” mothers final resting place. “We thank you.”
