The Life of EVERETT B SMITH
Everett B. Smith, 89, of the 1000 block of Southeast Rio Drive, Ankeny, died of a heart ailment Monday at Sunny View Care Center there. Services will be at 1 p.m. today at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Ankeny, of which he was a member. Burial will be at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery.
Mr. Smith was born in Algona and had lived in Des Moines before moving to Ankeny in 1956. He was a retired building contractor with Smith Building Contractor.
He is survived by his wife, H. Arlene; a son, Ross of Ankeny; five daughters, Harriet Van Gilder of Marion, Phyllis Thun of Topeka, KS, Janice Perry of Albuquerque, NM, Louise McCalley of Ankeny and Lorraine McGilvra of Des Moines; a brother, Robert of Des Moines; 10 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Memorial contributions may be made to his church. Hamilton''s Near Highland Memory Gardens Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
