The Life of BERNIECE ELEANOR THOMPSON
Berniece Eleanor Thompson, 78, passed from this life on Sunday, April 25, 2004 at her home in Des Moines. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, April 30 at St. John's Lutheran Church, in Des Moines, with burial at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery.
Berniece was born the daughter of Joseph J. and Gladys M. Holaday Holste on December 30, 1925 in Massena, Iowa. After graduating from high school, she moved to Des Moines in 1943, where she had resided since. Berniece was also a graduate of A.I.B. College in Des Moines.
On August 25, 1946, she married Ernest Arkle Thompson in Des Moines. Their marriage was blessed with three daughters, Judy, Pam and Sheila. Berniece was formerly employed with Clark Peterson for 17 years as a secretary, until her retirement. She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church and the St. John's Lutheran Quilters Club.
Berniece is survived and lovingly remembered by her husband of nearly 58 years, Ernest Thompson of Des Moines; three daughters, Judy Thompson of Des Moines, Pam Larson of Ingelside, TX, and Sheila Parnell of Charlotte, NC; one brother, Gwendell Holste of Santa Maria, CA; eight grandchildren, and four great- grandchildren.
Visitation will be after 5 p.m. on Thursday, April 29 at Westover Funeral Home, where the family will greet friends from 5 to 8 p.m. Memorials may be made to either St. John's Lutheran Church or Mercy Hospice of Johnston.
