The Life of JOHN FRYER FLITCRAFT

John F. Flitcraft, 81, died Saturday, May 17, 2003 at Mercy Medical Center. Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, May 21, at Our Lady''s Immaculate Heart Catholic Church in Ankeny. Burial will be in Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery. Mr. Flitcraft was born in Elkhart and was employed with Northwestern Bell Telephone Company as an engineer before retiring in 1982. He served in the US Navy in WWII and was a member of Our Lady''s Immaculate Heart Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus, WFW Post 9662 and American Legion Post 42. John enjoyed camping, gardening and blue grass music. He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters. He is survived by wife, Lily Flitcraft of Ankeny; son, Michael Flitcraft of Ankeny; daughter, Patricia Hamel of Eagan, MN; brother, George Flitcraft of Des Moines; five grandchildren and one great-grandson. Visitation will be Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. with family present at Our Lady''s Immaculate Heart Catholic Church with a vigil service at 7 p.m. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association.
