The Life of LILLIE A NEWMAN

Lillie A. Newman, 95, of Woodbury West Care Center, 1211 Vine St,. West Des Moines, died of a heart ailment Thursday at Mercy Hospital Medical Center Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Merle Hay Funeral Home.  Burial will be in Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery.

Mrs. Newman was born in McPherson, Kan., and had lived in Laverne, Okla., before moving to Des Moines in 1934.  She retired as a seamstress for J.C. Penney.  She was a member of Park Avenue Presbyterian Church.

Surviving are five daughters, Martha Tharp of Winterset, Mildred Standley of Waterloo, Marjorie Kubik of West Des Moines, Bernadine Clark of Wichita, Kan., and Virginia Harmon of Des Moines; a son, Ralph of Des Moines; three sisters, Myrtle McCurley of Ashland, Kan., Freda Basinger of Spokane, Wash., and Edith Clarkson of Ashland, Kan.; a brother, Leland Swanson of Ashland, Kan.; 20 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and seven great great grandchildren.
