The Life of JOHN BRYANT MCMURRAY
John B. McMurray, 27, a Kansas Highway Patrol trooper who formerly lived in Des Moines, died early Wednesday in a Manhattan, KS hospital of injuries suffered in a traffic accident Sunday.
Mr. McMurray, who had been a member of the Kansas patrol about two years, was crushed between tow cars when an auto rammed the rear of his patrol car while it was parked beside a highway west of Manhattan.
Alfred L. Jensen, a soldier stationed at Ft. Riley, KS was arrested on a drunk driving charge following the accident.
Mr. McMurray's parents, Mr. & Mrs. C.H. McMurray, live at 2544 Mansfield Dr. here. His widow, Margaret, is the daughter of Mr. & Mrs. Russell Francis of 2914 Twenty0seventh St. He also is survived by a 5-year-old daughter, Starla.
Services will be at 2:30 p.m. Thursday at the Berliew-Cowan Funeral Home in Manhattan. Graveside services will be at 10:00 a.m. Saturday in Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery in Des Moines. The body will be at the Hamilton Funeral Home Friday night.
