The Life of LELA I NORTH
Services for Mrs. Lela I. North, 72, of 3614 E Seventh St. will be at 10:00 a.m. Friday at Arnold''s Highland Park Funeral Home, with burial in Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery.
Mrs. North died of cancer Tuesday at the home of a son, Dr. James E. North, 7210 Beachwood Dr. in Urbandale. She had been ill for two years.
Born in Orient, Mrs. North had lived in Des Moines for 50 years. She was a graduate of Iowa State University and a member of the Auburn Chapter of the Order of Eastern Star and the Miller United Methodist Church.
Besides her son, survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Jane Norris of Marshalltown; a brother, R. Paul Johnson of Orient; a sister, Mrs. Merle Baines of Bellevue, NE and four grandchildren.
The family suggests memorial contributions to the Miller United Methodist Church, or the American Cancer Society.
