The Life of ALDA C BRITTAIN SHAW
Alda C. Shaw, 87, of the 3000 block of Amherst St. died of a heart ailment Tuesday at Mercy Medical Center. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at All Saints Catholic Church, of which she was a member. Burial will be at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery.
Mrs. Shaw had lived in Des Moines all her life. She was a homemaker and had worked at an ordnance plant during World War II. She was a member of AMVETS and Marchinist Retirees. She had been a home caretaker and was known as "Grandma Shaw." She enjoyed playing cards.
She is survived by two daughters, Eleanore Chapin and Teresa Emery, both of Des Moines; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter.
Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. today at Hamilton''s Funeral Home, where the family will be present from 6 to 8 p.m.
