The Life of WALTER I SHAW

Walter I Shaw, 80, of the 3000 block of Amherst Street died of a respiratory ailment Monday at Mercy Medical Center. Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at All Saints Catholic Church, of which he was a member. Burial will be at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery. Mr. Shaw was born in Marshalltown and had lived in Des Moines for more than 50 years. He was a retired machinist with Meredith-Burda, an Army veteran of World War II and a member of Machinishs Local 254 and Meredith Local Lodge. He is survived by his wife, Alda; two daughters, Eleanore Chapin and Teresa Emery, both of Des Moines; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Hamilton''s Near Highland Memory Gardens Funeral Home.
