The Life of PHILIP LEE THACKER

Phil Thacker, 56, of the 700 block of Dunham Avenue died of a heart attack Friday at Mercy Medical Center.  Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Southtown Funeral Home, with burial at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery.

Mr. Thacker had lived in Des Moines all his life.  He was a retired dry waller and an Army veteran of the Vietnam War.  He was a member of American Legion.  He and his friends took toys every year to the Toys for Tots program on their Harley-Davidson motorcycles.

Surviving are his wife, Mary; six sons, Chuck Wilson of South Carolina, Larry of Illinois, Robert Wilson, Thomas Wilson and Jon  Thacker, all of Des Moines, and Phillip, Jr. of Little Rock, AK; two daugthers, Lisha Jordan of Hartford and Dana Thacker of Des Moines; two brothers, Alfred and Dave, both of Des Moines; five sisters, Barbara Bruntmyer, Carol Holt and Elaine Delmerge, all of Minneapolis, Sharon Shoemaker of Des Moines and Phyllis Shearer of San Antonio, TX; 23 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
