The Life of GEORGE FREDERICK BROWN

George Frederick Brown, 88, of 3701 SW Ninth St. died of arteriosclerosis Monday at Commonweath Care Center. Services will be at noon Friday at Southtown Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery. Mr. Brown was born in England and had lived in Des Moines since 1921. He retired as a carman for Great Western and Northwestern Railroads, after 39 years there. He was a member of Park Avenue Christian Church and Railroad Workers Union. Surviving are his wife, Orva; a daughter, Ruth May Warnes of San Diego; two sons, Jack Taylor and George Taylor, both of Des Moines; nine grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren. Friends may call after 10 a.m. today and until service time Friday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to his church.
