The Life of HOWARD E COOK

Howard E. Cook, 63, of Guthrie Center died of a respiratory ailment Sunday at Yuma (Arizona) Regional Medical Center.  Services will be at noon Thursday at Hamilton''s Near Highland Memory Gardens Funeral Home in Des Moines.  Burial will be in Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery.

Mr. Cook was born in Lucas and moved to Guthrie Center six years ago after living in Des Moines most of his life.  He worked for the city of Des Moines 36 years, retiring as a supervisor, and was a member of Capitol City Baptist Church.

Among survivors are his wife, Florence; two sons, Richard of Mitchellville and Howard Jr. of Minneapolis; two daughters, Debra McCann of Urbandale and Rhonda Pollock of Des Moines; two brothers, William Jr of Des Moines and Dale of Sac City; six sisters, Mary King of Chariton, Ruby Walker and Sharon Estes, both of Dexter, and Wilma Fortune, Thelma Egbert and Vera Walker, all of Des Moines; 11 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

The family will visit with friends from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.  Memorial contributions may be made to his church''s teen department.
