The Life of VERLIS GENE CUNNINGHAM

Verlis "Gene" G. Cunningham, 66, of Montezuma died of a heart attack and complications of diabetes Wednesday at his home.  Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Hamilton''s Near Highland Memory Gardens Funeral Home, with burial in Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery.

Mr. Cunningham was born in Des Moines and lived in Waukee before moving to Montezuma in 1973.  He retired as a machine operator for Fawn Engineering of Des Moines in 1991, was a member of United Auto Workers Union and had served in the National Guard.

Survivors include his wife, Wilma; two sons, Rick and Perry, a daughter, Pam McDonnell, a brother, Carl, and a sister, Cleo Foster, all of Des Moines; nine grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at Hamilton''s Near Highland Memory Gardens Funeral Home.
