The Life of EVELYN L BACKER
Evelyn L. Backer, 62, of Runnells died of cancer Saturday at home. The body was cremated, and memorial services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Hamilton''s Near Highland Memorial Gardens Funeral Home.
Mrs. Backer was born in Oconomowoc, WI, and had lived in the Des Moines area 37 years and in Runnells 25 years. She was a retired administrative assistant with Children and families of Iowa and a member of Community of Christ Church in Runnells. She enjoyed her church, work and music.
She is survived by her husband, Dan; a daughter, Brenda Backer of Runnells; her mother, Thelma Thamke of Centerville; two sisters, Darlene Gleuberg of Des Moines and Annette Trinkle of Bussey; two brothers, Leon Tamke of Centerville and Edward Thamke of Helena, MT; and a grandchild.
