The Life of FREDERICK HENDERSON STEWART Sr.

Services for Fred H. Stewart, Sr., 81, of 3319 First St. a former Des Moines school teacher, will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday at Arnold''s Highland Park Funeral Home. Mr. Stewart died of leukemia Friday at Iowa Methodist Hospital. Burial will be at the Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery. Mr. Stewart was born in Warren County, Illinois, and had lived in Des Moines for 53 years. From 1908 to 1949, he taught mathematics at North High School here. He was a graduate of the State College of Iowa at Cedar Falls, and also attended the State University of Iowa at Iowa City. He was a lifetime member of the Iowa State Education Association, and also a member of the National Retired Teachers Association and the Auburn Masonic Lodge. He belonged to the the Epworth United Methodist Church. Survivors include his wife, Lillian; three sons, Donald H. of Courtland, NY; Kenneth A. of Long Beach, CA; and Fred H. Jr. of Des Moines; a brother, E.M. Stewart of Cedar Rapids, and eight grandchildren. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Epworth United Methodist Church.
