The Life of GEORGE D KARAIDOS

Services for George D. Karaidos, 79, of 3610 Harding Road, know in Des Moines for years as "George the Chili King," will be at 2 p.m. Friday at St. George Greek Orthodox Church.  Burial will be in Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery.

Mr. Karaidos was dead on arrival Tuesday at Iowa Methodist Hospital from an apparent heart attack.

A native of Greece, he moved here 50 years ago from Minneapolis and was owner of the Chili King Restaurants on Hickman Road and on Euclid Ave.  He had been retired several years.

He was past president of the Ahepa Lodge No 192 and past district governor of the Order of Ahepa, and was a member of St. George Church and Home Masonic Lodge.

Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Marie Mirras of Des Moines and Mrs. Helen G. Cunningham of Clive; two sons, James G and George Jr. of Des Moines; a sister, Mrs. Chrisafos Lemberes, and two brothers, the Rev. Gust Karaidos and Elias Karaidos, all living in Greece, and 12 grandchildren.

A prayer service will be at 7:30 p.m. Thursday at the Hamilton-Lilly Funeral Home.
