The Life of ILA A WOODS
Ila A. Woods, 77, of 2931 Tiffin Ave., died of a heart ailment September 25 at home. Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Hamilton''s Near Highland Memory Gardens Funeral Home, with burial at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery.
Mrs. Woods was born in Spirit Lake and had lived in Des Moines since 1941. She was a homemaker.
Survivors include two daughters, Cheryl Bryant of Des Moines and Lois Highshoe of Mitchellville; two sons, Dennis of Des Moines and Bruce of Winterset; seven grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
The family will receive friends from 4 to 6 p.m. today at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association.

My mother rode her horse, Babe, two miles to the end of the rural bus route to catch the school bus to Spirit Lake, Iowa schools, twenty miles away. She graduated from Spirit Lake High School in May of 1934. This was year round, irregardless of snow, hail, wind, rain.
