The Life of DORTHEA G OWENS
Dorthea G. Owens passed away Friday, April 7, 2006 at Iowa Methodist Medical Center. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 12, 2006 at Hamilton''s near Highland Memory Gardens with burial at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery. The family will greet friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Dorthea was born December 5, 1914 to Bruce and Clarice (Whitlatch) Carson in Chariton, Iwoa. She was a homemaker and enjoyed cooking and gardening. Dorthea especially enjoyed her tulips, iris and sunflowers. She was a member of Highland Park Christian Chruch and a former member of Pilots Sunday School Class. Dorthea was an active member in her church and attended faithfully until moving into the Mill Pond Retirement Center in Ankeny.
Dorthea is survived by her son, Van Owens of Ankeny; daughter, Michalea Starke (Al Level) of Bothell, WA; grandson, Sean; granddaughter, Jennifer; and her brother-in-law, Ernie Myers. She was preceded in death by her husband, Arlyn Owens.
