The Life of WILBUR GENE EVANS

Wilbur G. Evans, 56, of 122 SW School St., Ankeny, died of a heart attack Monday at home. Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Ankeny Funeral Home, and burial will be in Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery. Mr. Evans was born in Polk City and had lived in the Ankeny area most of his life. He retired in 1979 as a self-employed truck driver, farmer and former owner of Evans DX. Survivors include his wife, June; a son, Dennis of Dallas Center; four daughters, Janet Herron of Richfield, MN, Joyce Martinson of Ankeny, and Shirley Burgess and Shelley Ponxs, both of Des Moines; a brother, Wallace of Ankney; two sisters, Kathryn Bell of Osceola and Evelyn Schmidt of Cambridge; seven grandchildren and a great-grandchild. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.>>
