The Life of DURWOOD C SWANSON

Durwood C Swanson, 82, of Otsego, MN, died of a heart ailment Friday at home. Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Grace Lutheran Church in Des Moines, of which he was a member. Burial will be at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery here. Mr. Swanson was born in Slater and had lived in the Des Moines area all his life before moving to Minnesota eight months ago. He had worked in the parts department at Fawn Engineering and at GM Parts Division in Des Moines before retiring. He was an Army veteran of World War II and an associate member of Advent Lutheran Church in Maple Grove, MN. He enjoyed traveling. He is survived by his wife, Cathleen; a daughter, Shirley Clark of Maple Grove; two sisters, Jeanne Landgren of Wilmer, MN, and Margaret Pennington of Des Moines; a brother, Cleo of Aurora, CO; two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Friends may call after 5 p.m. today at Westover Funeral Home in Des Moines, where the family will be present from 5 to 7 p.m. and where a prayer service will be held at 7 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to his church.
