The Life of MILENKO DAKOVICH

Mr. Milenko "Doc" Dakovich, 82, died Tuesday, June 8, 2004 at Iowa Methodist Medical Center following a lengthy illness. Services are 11 a.m. Saturday, June 12 at Grandview Park Funeral Home with burial in Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery. Mr. Dakovich was born in Norwoodville, IA. He was a WWII Army Veteran and was a City of Des Moines Supervisor until his retirement in 1983. Milenko was a past member of the Moose, Elk, and Croation Lodges and the Union Local 353. He enjoyed fishing, playing cards, and was an avid baseball fan, especially enjoying the Chicago Cubs and Atlanta Braves. Mr. Dakovich is survived by his wife, Verna F. Dakovich of Des Moines; son, Terry Dakovich of Eagan, MN; daughter, Lucinda M. (Brandon "Bob") Pounds of Clive; brother, Mirko "Jukie" (Helen) Dakovich; sister, Mildred Alexander; brother, Dr. Milton (Shirley) Dakovich; grandchildren, Shawn Dakovich, Jodi (Dave) Van Rossum, Chad (Reeve) Swertfager; great grandchildren, Shawn Dakovich, Jr., Jordan Lumley, and Kendall Swertfager; and many nieces and nephews. Friends may call after 3 p.m. on Friday, June 11 with the family present from 6 to 8 p.m. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association or American Lung Association.
