The Life of FLOYD IVAN RHOADES

Floyd Ivan Rhoades, 74, of the 200 block of Southeast Wall Ave. died of a heart ailment Saturday at Mercy Medical Center. Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Park Avenue Christian Church, of which he was a member. Burial will be at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery. Mr. Rhoades was born in Clinton and had lived in Des moines most of his life. He retired in 1990 as a letter carrier for the U.S. Postal Service. He was an Army veteran of World War II and a member of the Coast Guard Auxiliary. Survivors include his wife, Dortha; a daughter, Floydean Post of Des Moines; two sons, James of Des Moines and Tom and Chariton; a sister, Viva Vardo of Des Moines; 10 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren. Friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m. today at Southtown Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to his church.
