The Life of EVERETT LEE CARPENTER

Everett Lee Carpenter, 58, of the 2700 block of East Market Street, died of cancer Monday at Iowa Methodist Medical Center.  Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Hamilton''s Funeral Home, with burial in Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery.

Mr. Carpenter had lived in Des Moines all his life.  He was a retired construction worker for Peterson Construction, and was a member of Simpson United Methodist Church and Sportsman Club in Hartford.  He enjoyed fishing.

He is survived by one son, Gregg, and one daughter, June Rumelhart, both of Des Moines; two stepdaughters, Jennifer Stanley of Des Moines and Denise Olson of Boone; two stepsons, Larry Sparks of Des Moines and David Smithhart of Ottumwa; his stepfather, Glenn Barr of Des Moines; three sisters, Verna Daniels of Carlisle; and Lois Lingle and Dolores Burks, both of Des Moines; two brothers, George Carpenter of Bondurant and Dean Barr of Des Moines; 13 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.  Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Central Iowa.
