The Life of IRA JACOB RATZLAFF

Ira Jacob Ratzlaff, 84, of Bayard Care Center died of a heart ailment Tuesday at home.  Services will be at noon Friday at Union Park United Methodist Church.  Burial will be in Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery.

Mr. Ratzlaff was born in Fortuna, MO., and had lived in Des Moines most of his life.  He previously lived in the Bagley and Bayard areas.  He had retired in 1965 as a truck driver for Caldwell-Hartung Trucking Inc. and he was a member of Union Park Methodist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Sarah Christine; a son, Ronald Jacob of Santa Maria, CA; four sisters, Mary Jackson of Bayard, Edith Renshaw of Bagley, and Susan Brown and Elizabeth Juel both of Coon Rapids; two brothers, Henry of Bagley and Fred of Mason City; a stepdaugter, Cleo Foster of Council Bluffs; two stepsons, Gene Cunningham of Montezuma and Carl Cunningham of Des Moines; 17 grandchildren; and 25 great-grandchldren.

Friends may call after 1 p.m. today at Hamilton''s Funeral Home.
