The Life of ROBERT L BENJAMIN
Robert Benjamin, 66, of Mitchellville died of a heart ailment Tuesday at Metropolitan Medical Center in Des Moines. Services will be at 1 p.m. today at Hamilton''s Funeral Home in Des Moines, with burial at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery there.
Mr. Benjamin was born in Des Moines and had lived in Ankeny most of his life before moving to Mitchellville 12 years ago. He was a retired science and math teacher with the Des Moines, Johnston and Urbandale school systems and had served in the Iowa National Guard. He was a volunteer teacher, a member of Men''s Garden Club, 4-H and the Des Moines Education and National Education associations. He was a Master Gardener and enjoyed lawn work, reading and helping with 4-H at the Iowa State Fair.
He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth; three daughters, Dianne McKinney and Debra Wolfe, both of Altoona, and Denise Albaugh of Ankeny; a brother, Ronald of Ankeny; and four grandchildren.
